Tasting notes from the Principal

My scribbly notes on 72 La Tach, 83 Rousseau & Roumier and 82 La Mission Haut Brion

My scribbly notes from a really memorable dinner last week at the Principal but more importantly feast your eyes on the image courtesy of Dr. Chan:

La Tache 1972
Starting with an elder. Tea leaves, hay, barnyard, minty.

1983 Rousseau
Lovely backbone and mouthfeel. Lots of strawberries and depth but not succulent. Mesmerizing perfume.

1983 Roumier
Horse shit, young, bright, complicated, characterful with fruit and floral notes.

1982 La Mission Haut Brion
Ending with a Bordaux – ah! Steely notes, floral, berries. Beautiful & stealthy but still has a ways to go.
